The season of freshly cut and tossed Salesforce Summer ‘24 is here with a brand-new collection of updates, releases, and tools that will validate, coherent, and strengthen the need for Salesforce implementation even further. 

Every year Salesforce pivots to three critical seasons for their announcements and news: 

• Winter Release
• Summer Release 
• Spring Release 

All three seasons plan on leveraging the CRM platform development solutions that heavily impact how the business works and the corresponding systems. Now that we know the important dates, let’s kick start this blog and highlight what’s coming next in the Salesforce Summer ‘24 Season. However, before we head here’s a note for you:

“If organizations know their instance, they can head over to Salesforce Trust, click on their instance name, and select ‘Maintenance’ from the list. It will reveal the date of the rollout of the Salesforce Summer ‘24 for organizations. 

If users don’t know their instance, the easiest way is to click on “Company Information” inside “Setup” in their Salesforce.”

What’s In The Latest Salesforce Summer ‘24 Release

As per admin.salesforce, the very first thing before heading towards knowing the updates is to explore the pre-release org and be sure to refresh your Sandbox. 

What’s Sandbox? 

A Sandbox is a copy of your organization in a separate environment that you can use for a variety of purposes such as testing and training. Sandboxes are completely isolated from your Salesforce production organization. The operations you perform in your sandboxes don’t affect your Salesforce production organization.

While we are at Salesforce Sandbox, let’s have a sneak peek at what to expect from this release on the platform.

Summer ‘24 Sandbox Sneak Peek

Now that you have read the Salesforce Release Notes and the pre-release documentation, it is OK to play with the features related to your modifications in your sandbox. Now is the time to evaluate whether features might be useful or impact Salesforce usage inside your organization.

There are sandboxes for each release that may be upgraded to the preview instance. On the other hand, an additional set of sandboxes will remain on the current release or the non-preview instance. In accordance with whether your instance is “preview” or “non-preview,” Salesforce provides two windows for sandbox releases.

On May 10th, 2024, the majority of sandboxes received the upgrade. To choose the strategy for your sandbox instance(s), you may also consult the Salesforce Sandbox Preview Guide available on the official website. 

Release Updates

Frequently, release updates come with a Test Run option that allows you to activate the update and see if your organization has changed in any way before the upgrade’s Complete Steps By date, including customizations. You can see attachments on the Salesforce mobile app, but you cannot modify them.

To access release updates, type Release Updates into the Setup Quick Find box and select Release Updates.

Enable Trustable Cross-Org Redirections

You may now permit only trusted cross-org redirections to safeguard your users and network and restrict redirections to other Salesforce organizations. To the Trusted URLs for Redirects allowlist, add the particular Salesforce org URLs that you believe to be reliable.

To honor organization-wide profile settings, enable EmailSimple Invocable Action.

The EmailSimple invocable action complies with organization-wide email address profile settings when this update is enabled. The enforcement date of this update was pushed back to the summer of 24 after it was initially made public in the summer of 23. Originally, it was supposed to take effect in the spring of 24.

ICU Locale Formats

Use the International Components for Unicode (ICU) locale formats to do business from wherever. Dates, timings, currencies, locations, names, and numeric quantities are all formatted differently depending on the locale.3

The worldwide standard for these formats is defined by the ICU. The ICU locale formats enhance platform consistency and facilitate better global interoperability with ICU-compliant applications.

Migration of Multi-Configuration SAML Framework

Your Salesforce instance will use the original single-configuration SAML framework, which allows single sign-on (SSO) with a single external identity provider, if you see this release update.

Salesforce is only supporting the multiple-configuration SAML framework with this release update, eliminating support for the single-configuration SAML framework.

Use Bot User Context to Run Flows

When this update is active, a bot-initiated flow operates within the context of the user. The object permissions and field-level access of the flow are determined by the user profile, permission settings, and sharing rules connected with the bot.

That’s A Wrap

Updates are now official as the Salesforce Summer 2024 Release Cycle has arrived. Along with many other enhancements, the new edition will include Einstein features and a host of other improvements for the Sales, Service, Experience, and Marketing clouds.

Keep an eye on the aforementioned dates as the release cycle is slated to take place in May and June of 2024 through the maintenance calendar of Salesforce. You need to go over the necessary papers and read the release notes to be ready for the release.
