Thousand Greens is a global members' network built around reciprocity between private golf clubs. Instead of treating club access as a one-way benefit, Thousand Greens creates an exchange between members. A member lists their own private club, hosts visiting members there, and in return gets the opportunity to play courses that would otherwise be closed to outsiders. Today, the network connects 3,600+ private golf clubs and 12,000+ members across a platform available on web, iOS, and Android. The product brings the complete exchange experience into one place, including: - Global club discovery and map-based browsing - Member and club profiles - Hosting requests between members - One-to-one and group conversations - Community feed and social interactions - Membership management - Billing and renewals - Club and member access management DianApps has built and operated the Thousand Greens platform across its web, mobile, and backend systems for years. Since March 2026, Claude has become part of the team's day-to-day product and engineering workflow.

Thousand Greens is a members' network built on reciprocity between private golf clubs. DianApps has built and operated the platform across web, iOS, Android, and backend systems for years. The product includes global club discovery, member and club profiles, hosting requests, one-to-one and group chat, community feed, membership, billing, renewals, and access management. Since March 2026, Claude has become part of the product and engineering workflow. Claude Cowork is used by Thousand Greens founder Manish Goel and the DianApps Product Owner to shape member feedback and product ideas into clear engineering briefs. Claude Code supports development across the existing codebase, performance investigation, testing, and modernization. In the last year, 65% of all code changes across web, mobile, and backend were written with Claude.

Challenges

Before

Mature multi-platform product: Years of accumulated code across web, mobile, and backend made new development and changes increasingly complex.

Feature development vs. maintenance: New member requests had to compete with ongoing maintenance and technical improvements.

Performance investigations: Slow experiences required deeper investigation to identify the actual underlying request or implementation rather than applying surface-level fixes.

Modernization without disruption: Older parts of the platform needed modernization, but pausing feature development for months was not an option.

Complex membership model: Pricing, billing, renewals, and upgrades needed to reflect the reciprocal nature of the network, including the value a member's club brings and the access they receive.

Claude-assisted product development: Member feedback and new ideas are worked through in Claude Cowork and translated into actionable engineering briefs.

AI-assisted engineering: Claude Code works with the existing codebase, investigates application behavior, implements changes, and supports testing.

Faster delivery: Work that previously could be sized in quarters can now move in weeks, with member-driven features often reaching users within the same month.

Root-cause performance optimization: Performance data is analyzed alongside the code responsible for it. One club-opening experience improved from close to 1 second to approximately 75 milliseconds.

Continuous modernization: Older components are replaced as part of normal feature development, allowing modernization to happen without stopping releases.

Safer business-logic changes: Claude Code helps implement membership, pricing, billing, renewal, and upgrade changes against existing rules and tests.

Human-led releases: Product decisions, engineering reviews, testing, and production releases remain under human control.

65% of Code Changes Written With Claude In the last year, Claude was used to write 65% of code changes across Thousand Greens' web, mobile, and backend systems. Quarters to Weeks The development cycle has accelerated from work previously sized in quarters to work moving in weeks. Member feedback can move from product conversation to a working test build while the original context is still fresh. ~1 Second → ~75ms A club-opening experience that could take close to one second on a bad day now responds in approximately 75 milliseconds, following root-cause performance investigation. Modernization Without Stopping Releases Legacy parts of the platform are being replaced incrementally within normal feature development instead of requiring a separate modernization phase. AI Inside the Product The next phase is bringing more natural AI-powered interactions directly to members, including finding the right club or host, asking for what they need in their own words, and arranging a game through more conversational experiences. Throughout the process, Claude accelerates the work while people remain responsible for product decisions, engineering validation, and releases.
